Aletsch Glacier
As seen from Bettmerhorn VS, Switzerland. Point of view is about 2600 m above sea level.
panorama consisting of 8 photographs (handheld), stitched together using "Calico Panorama" [link] * cropped, added border & logo adjusted curves a little to increase contrast increased saturation a little bit sharpened
* A nice & easy tool for Mac OS X. I used to do this in Windows (with Panorama Factory), but I no longer have a Windows PC and couldn't be bothered to start Parallels to run Windows...
edit: had the image restitched with only 8 photographs, as i cropped one away anyway. also increased sharpness & saturation a little, and used a higher quality jpg compression (to reduce compression artefacts in earlier version).
edit 2: for a satellite picture go to [link] and zoom out once to see the glacier.
Haven't seen anything from you in a while! This looks amazing, incredible capture.
Thanks for telling about the panorama software, I've always done mine in Photoshop manually and that just takes too long. I'll try this out next time I have one to stitch.
and you're welcome. Calico worked pretty well for this and another (upcoming) panorama. you can try before you buy, the pano will have watermarks until you register, though.
Yup, stitching manually is tiresome - at least for someone who isn't "fluent in Photoshop" - haven't done so more than a couple of times, as it took me too long.
In this article I will provide you some ideas how you can build your own homestudio for considerably cheaper price than it would cost to use "official" studio gear. I will also show you few examples where I have used the gear I describe during this article.
Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.

You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
